この作品を思い描いたとき、心にふと浮かんだのは、清らかで、凛とした一人の女性の姿でした。
その姿は何だろうと考えるうちに、弓道の立ち姿が、はっきりと心に立ち上がってきました。構えから矢を放ち、その後もなお心を途切れさせない——弓道にはそういう「残心（ざんしん）」という言葉があります。放って終わりではなく、心を残し、次へと備える。調べるほどに、なんと奥深い心構えだろうと、強く胸を打たれました。
弓を射るという武術は、源平の頃から続く、日本古来の精神そのもの。その凛とした姿を、いま改めて描きたいと思いました。
放った矢の先にあるのは、移りゆく四季です。春の桜、夏の緑、秋の紅葉、冬の雪——それが水面に映り込み、円を描いて連なっていきます。
光陰矢のごとし。四季は、何もしなければあっという間に過ぎてしまう。新しい道を歩み始めた今、無駄にできる時間は一つもない——そんな覚悟を、この一枚に込めました。目標に向かって、着実に歩いていく。その決意を支えてくれるのが、凛とした残心の姿勢です。

Four Seasons, Lingering Mind (Shiki Zanshin)

When this work first came to me, what rose in my mind was the figure of a woman: clear, composed, holding herself upright.
Asking myself what that figure was, the stance of kyudo, Japanese archery, came into focus. You draw, you release the arrow, and even after it has gone you do not let your attention break. Archery has a word for this: zanshin, the mind that remains. The release is not the end. You keep something of yourself there, and you are already ready for what follows. The further I read into it, the more it struck me how deep a discipline of the heart this is.
Archery is among the oldest of the Japanese martial arts, carried down since the age of the Genpei wars, and it holds something essential in the spirit of this country. I wanted to paint that composure again, now.
What lies beyond the released arrow is the turning of the seasons. Cherry blossom in spring, green in summer, red leaves in autumn, snow in winter. They fall onto the surface of the water and link together there in circles.
Time flies like an arrow. Left alone, four seasons pass in no time at all. Having started down a new road, I have no time left to waste, and that resolve is what I put into this piece. To walk toward what you are aiming at, steadily. What holds a resolve like that upright is the composure of zanshin.
And yet, if you only look ahead, the now beneath your feet goes unseen. Did you notice the ducks in the distance, a parent and its young? To a gaze in a hurry to get on, that small family is invisible. Taste this hour, take pleasure in it. That wish is set quietly into the painting as well.
Move toward what you are aiming at, inside time that passes quickly. But hold the present dear, one step and then the next, feet on the ground. If you feel that bearing alongside the beauty of the Japanese seasons, that would be enough.

◆ Giclee printing
The original artwork is printed with archival pigment inks using the giclee process: 9 to 12 inks, capable of holding gradations and fine texture that ordinary printing flattens out. It is the method used for reproducing fine art and photographic work, valued for both color fidelity and longevity.
Printed on either an HP DesignJet Z9+ PS (B0) or an Epson SureColor SC-P9550, selected per piece according to the artwork and the paper used.

A gold dessin frame, chosen to meet the color of the work. The glazing is UV-cut acrylic, blocking approximately 97% of ultraviolet light to slow fading and color shift.
